NEWSLETTER, May 2008
Since November last year, Ebbenjarka has been under new-but-old management, after partner Ove Danielsson sold his share to the other two partners, Anders Englund and Kenneth Liberg. Things are as they were before, with majority partner Anders Englund running practical matters on site at the Alviksträsket facility together with employees, Karl-Johan Lundström and Anders Harnevik. The chef Dan Lindström is there during the busy season. "We can turn words into action quicker now and it is easier to work proactively," says Anders.

New this year
One change that took place last winter is the purchase of 20 snowmobiles to meet Abbenjarka´s basic needs, instead of renting snowmobiles as needed. "This makes us more flexible. Now, we are not always forced to plan so far ahead to be able to arrange a snowmobile tour for our guests. The weather for example can require changes in the programme, and then it´s good to have our snowmobiles waiting just round the corner. We also have a tractor now, to ensure efficient snow cleaning in the area". In addition, the cabin which represents Ebbenjarka´s nearest neighbour, has been bought and is to be part of the facility. "We are going to build another sauna here," Anders tells us. "And the cabin, which has room from 10 to 15 people, will be a place for pleasant relaxation before and after the sauna. It has its own access from the road, which makes parking and logistics simpler and less disruptive," he adds.

Good season
"We have had a very good season in spite of the mild winter," Anders says. "The lake iced over around 10 November. But we had a shortage of the snow that we need for ice roads and snow banks. As regards visitors, there has been a great diversity. We have a good spread. On average we have at least 5,000 visitors a year, 20% of them in international groups. The biggest group last winter was 145 people from the Netherlands who stayed for two days."

Ebbenjarka is an activity-oriented facility with conference facilities, snowmobile tours, ice motoring and dog-sledding as its core operations. "Skid track driving is on the increase," says Anders. "But we serve our guests food and drink of the highest quality, and receive them in a positive and personal way so that they come back," he concludes. Despite its wintry profile, Ebbenjarka has activities almost all year round. The summer brake this year will be six weeks, from 30 June to 10 August. Then it´s pedal to the metal again!

NEWSLETTER, May 2007
The winter season was short this year, starting late and ending swiftly. Activities, however, went on at full capacity and with the usual intensity.

Winter Report
We have been able to offer our guests twice as many ice tracks as previously. This, as well as more professional instructors, has meant extensive winter training for drivers. The number of visitors who took part in skid training was about 850, the same as the preceding year.

Among the winter customers, we would like to mention Volvo Germany, a reliable customer returning year after year. Other car companies that found us included Mazda UK, which sent 30 personnel and Mercedes Germany with 50 employees. SCA of the Netherlands had 60 personnel visiting us, and BioRad Norden sent 48. We have also noted a marked increase in Swedish guests and visitors from the immediate area.

We have begun to offer long-distance snowmobiling across the snowy landscape. What about a three-day tour covering 800 km, for groups of ten to fifteen with two guides? This has proven highly popular among our overseas guests. Naturally, overnight stays at good hotels with delicious dinners are included. Next season we will offer snowmobile tours up to a week in duration.

New features on the way
Something new for this year is GPS navigating. We take a forest walk with a brief or long course in the basics of GPS use, through problem-solving and ”learning by doing”. A take-along lunch pack is an option.

We also offer a two-hour talk and discussion on self-esteem and stress management, energy massage and training in a form of autohypnosis designed to achieve balance in body and mind.

Even without the snow, Ebbenjarka is an attractive destination. We organise nature excursions, for example moose and beaver safaris, and forest walks with Siberian Huskies. Other activities include clay pigeon shooting and off-roading at the motor arena run by Luleå Motoring Society. To see more activities, follow the link ”Adventures” here on our web site.

When it comes to food and drink, Ebbenjarka intends to remain among the best. Our cuisine takes ingredients from the Norrbotten’s forests and waters. We have sole rights in Sweden to some of the best wines from Italy. We aim for quality, service, and that personal touch; and we offer our guests the very best in relaxation, adventure and meals.
